DALLAS, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Cornerback Adam Jones, formerly nicknamed "Pacman," has been released by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones, who had been suspended by the NFL for run-ins with the law and reinstated after a year, played in nine games for Dallas.

While with the Cowboys in October, Jones was suspended for four games after an altercation with his bodyguard.

Jones, who played at West Virginia University before going to the NFL, has 147 tackles, six fumble recoveries and four interceptions in his pro career. He also gained 807 yards on punt returns and 1,803 yards on kickoff returns.
