
MOBILE, Ala., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Tarrion Adams scored three touchdowns Tuesday, leading Tulsa to its second straight GMAC Bowl win, 45-13 over 22nd-ranked Ball State.
Adams set a school record of 3,653 career rushing yards and matched another with his 32nd rushing touchdown. He rushed for with 209 yards on 20 carries Tuesday for the Golden Hurricane (11-3). Tulsa beat Bowling Green 63-7 in this same bowl game last season.
David Johnson threw for 193 yards and three TDs on 15-of-25 passing, and ran for 53 more yards, in the win. Damaris Johnson had 135 yards on six receptions and 76 yards on three carries. Slick Shelley and Jacob Frank each had had touchdown catches.
Ball State's Nate Davis was 9-for-29 passing for 143 yards with an interception but ran for a TD for the Cardinals (12-2), who moved to 0-6-1 all-time in bowl games. Last year, the Cardinals lost to Rutgers in the International Bowl.
