COL BKB: Louisville 71, South Florida 57

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Twenty-first-ranked Louisville, led by Earl Clark's 22 points, opened its Big East schedule Wednesday with a 71-57 victory over South Florida.

The Cardinals (10-3, 1-0 Big East) had just a six-point advantage at halftime but gradually pulled away in the second half.

Edgar Sosa added 12 points for Louisville.

Dominique Jones and Augustus Gilchrist each scored 11 points for the Bulls (5-8, 0-2), losers of four of five contests.

South Florida opened its Big East season with a loss Friday to Syracuse.
