
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The Arkansas Razorbacks got a combined 42 points from Michael Washington and Stefan Welsh Tuesday to score a 67-61 upset of seventh-ranked Texas.
Washington fired in 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Welsh had 20 points. Courtney Fortson had 13 points, 10 boards and five assists for the 12-1 Razorbacks.
Arkansas has won 10 straight, a run that also includes a victory over Oklahoma, ranked sixth this week.
The 11-3 Longhorns were led by Damion James, who scored 17 points with eight rebounds. Gary Johnson came off the bench to score 15 points and grab 12 rebounds. Justin Mason added 10 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Texas led 52-46 with about 9 minutes remaining when Arkansas went on an 11-0 tear.
Mason's tip-in brought the Longhorns back within 62-61 with 48.2 seconds remaining. But Washington followed with a three-point play that put the Razorbacks up by four with 22.5 left and A.J. Abrams missed three straight shots for Texas. Welsh then put the game away with a layup.
