NHL: Edmonton 3, N.Y. Islanders 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Andrew Cogliano had the game-winning goal and the Edmonton Oilers erased a 2-0 lead with three unanswered goals Monday night to beat the New York Islanders 3-2.

The Islanders got first-period goals from Kyle Okposo (unassisted) and Blake Comeau (power-play), but the Oilers scored twice in the second period to tie it up. Kyle Brodziak scored an unassisted goal and Jason Strudwick got the equalizer with his first goal of the season.

Cogliano scored the game-winner with his 12th goal of the season, following assists from Ethan Moreau and Marc Pouliot, at 9:58 of the third.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 25 shots for the Oilers, who won for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Joey MacDonald had 23 saves for the Islanders, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games, have lost 13 straight on the road, and possess the NHL's worst record at 12-25-4.
