RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Tuomo Ruutu scored the winning goal and Cam Ward made 25 saves Tuesday in the Carolina Hurricanes' 3-2 win over New Jersey.

Ray Whitney and Sergei Samsonov also scored for the Hurricanes, who have a four-game winning streak and have earned points in 12 of their last 15 games (9-3-3).

Patrik Elias had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who had won four of five coming in. Scott Clemmensen was beaten three times on 28 shots.

Ruutu got his winning goal at 9:58 of the third period.
