Report: Three UT players arrested

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues and three other seeded players won first-round matches Monday in he ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand.
Medina Garrigues, the No. 3 seed, eliminated Italian Mara Santangelo, 7-5, 6-0.
Fourth-seeded Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada beat Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5.
The No. 5 seed, Israeli Shahar Peer, won over Czech Petra Cetkovska, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, and No. 6 Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic outlasted Russian Alla Kudryavtseva, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-5.
Other winners included American Jill Craybas.
The event's top seed, Russia's Elena Dementieva, will meet Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan in her opening match.
