FLINT, Mich., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Former New York Giants wide receiver Mark Ingram is in custody in Flint, Mich., after evading police for a month, the Flint Journal reported.
Ingram failed to turn up at a federal prison in Kentucky Dec. 5 after his conviction on bank fraud and money laundering charges in September and had been on the run.
Federal prosecutors said he tried to launder $100,000 for people he thought were drug dealers in an FBI sting operation.
The newspaper said Ingram was captured without incident at a hotel room in Flint, near his home in Grand Blanc, and that his arrest came just before Alabama's 31-17 loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Ingram's son, Mark Jr., is a star running back for the Crimson Tide.
The elder Ingram, 42, had sought a delay in his eight-year prison sentence to watch the contest.
Ingram played on the Giants' 1991 Super Bowl championship team.
