NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers Coach Bill Cowher, a CBS football analyst, says he will not return to coaching in 2009.

Cowher said Sunday on the "NFL Today" show he plans to continue in his job with CBS this year. He said the timing was not right for a return to coaching.

Various reports recently have speculated that Cower might be a candidate for one of several NFC head-coaching vacancies.

Cowher coached the Steelers for 15 years, winning a Super Bowl in 2005 and compiling an overall record of 149-90. He left coaching after the 2006 season.
