LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Edgar Sosa buried a three-pointer with two seconds left Sunday to boost 18th-ranked Louisville to a 74-71 win over archrival Kentucky.

The trey capped a season-high 18 point effort for Sosa and followed two free throws by Jodie Meeks that tied the contest 71-71 with 18 seconds left.

Louisville led 38-35 at the half, with its biggest advantage being 38-29 on Sosa's two free throws 2:21 before the break.

Terrence Williams led Louisville with 19 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Jerry Smith scored 11 points, while Earl Clark added 10, with eight rebounds and three assists, for the Cardinals (9-3), who have split their last four contests.

They had lost three of the previous four meetings against their in-state rivals.

Meek led Kentucky with 28 points, including 8-of-19 three-pointers.

Patrick Patterson scored 22 with 15 rebounds and four assists, but no other player scored in double figures for the Wildcats (11-4), whose six-game winning streak ended.
