ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk scored the lone shootout goal Saturday when the Detroit Red Wings downed Minnesota 3-2.

Detroit's Johan Franzen scored his 18th goal (power play) at 15:23 of the third period to create a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation. Owen Nolan (power play) and Antti Miettinen scored 16 seconds apart early in the third to give Minnesota a 2-1 advantage.

Overtime went scoreless before Datsyuk lifted a forehand shot past Minnesota goalie Josh Harding.

Franzen and Mikael Samuelsson both scored once, while Chris Osgood made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Red Wings, who have won three straight and six of their last eight contests.

Before Datsyuk's game-winner, Harding gave up two goals on 37 shots for the Wild, who have lost three of four.

Minnesota learned Saturday that star forward Marian Gaborik will miss the next 10 weeks, with left hip surgery scheduled for Monday.
