
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Marcus Landry and Trevon Hughes both scored 16 points Wednesday to lead Wisconsin's 73-61 win over No. 24 Michigan in the Big Ten opener for both schools.
A 20-9 Wisconsin lead with 13:26 left in the first half grew to 42-31 at the break.
Landry's bucket gave Wisconsin a 58-42 lead with 13:31 left, and the closest Michigan got was 64-55 on a layup by Manny Harris with 3:18 remaining.
Jon Leuer scored 12 with five rebounds, and Joe Krabbenhoft added nine points and eight rebounds for the Badgers (10-3, 1-0 Big Ten), who bounced back from their 74-69 Dec. 23 loss to then-8th-ranked Texas.
Zack Novak led Michigan with a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
DeShawn Sims scored 14 with three rebounds, and Luval Lucas-Perry added 11 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines (10-3, 0-1), who had their five-game winning streak snapped.
They shot just 39.2 percent to 58.7 for the Badgers.
