HOUSTON, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Three Houston police officers have been cleared of wrongdoing in the alleged beating of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver's father.
The department issued a statement Tuesday saying Officers B. Guzman, G. Cruz and M. Marin are expected to return to regular patrol duties immediately, Houston TV station Fox 26 reported.
The officers have been on administrative leave since Marvin Driver accused them of beating him during a Nov. 17 traffic stop.
Driver had become unresponsive while being escorted to jail and was taken to a hospital where he leveled the beating accusation.
The police statement said the internal investigation could neither disprove nor verify the allegations but that two independent witnesses provided accounts similar to that given by the officers.
The witnesses told investigators Marin, who was accused of beating Driver, stayed inside his patrol vehicle, and there was no indication an assault or altercation happened.
