
SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Chase Daniel tossed a 7-yard scoring strike to Jeremy Maclin in overtime Monday night and Missouri beat Northwestern 30-23 in the Alamo Bowl.
The game-winning play salvaged the night for Daniel and the Tigers following a substandard performance. Daniel was 27-of-44 passing for 200 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also intercepted three times.
Missouri (10-4) missed a chance to win in regulation when Jeff Wolfert's 44-yard field goal attempt went wide right as time expired.
After Missouri scored in overtime, Northwestern (9-4) failed to score on its final possession, with C.J. Bacher tossing an interception on fourth-down. Bacher was 27-of-43 passing for 304 yards and three touchdowns for Northwestern.
Sean Weatherspoon had 18 tackles for Missouri.
