NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Fleury made 37 saves Friday to earn his first shutout of the season and carry the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 1-0 victory over New Jersey.

Ruslan Fedotenko scored the lone goal, his ninth of the year, coming with 7:09 to play in the second period.

Fleury has been particularly busy against the Devils this season. He stopped 47-of-49 shots against them in a 2-1 loss in October.

Friday's victory allowed the Penguins to jump past New Jersey by a point into third place in the Atlantic Division.

This was the 12th shutout of Fleury's five-year NHL career, all of it spent with the Penguins. He recorded four shutouts last season and five the year before that.

Pittsburgh has defeated the Devils in four of their six meetings this season. New Jersey concluded a four-game homestand, during which it posted a 2-2 record.

Scott Clemmensen made 17 saves in the loss.
