UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Bill Guerin scored twice Friday and Rick DiPietro made 28 saves to help the New York Islanders end a 10- game losing streak with a 4-1 decision over Toronto.

New York had not won since Nov. 29. The 10 losses were the most in a row for the Islanders in 11 seasons.

Guerin broke a 1-1 tie 6:27 into the second period by firing a slapshot past Vesa Toskala. He then tipped in a shot by Chris Campoli early in the third to run his goal total to 13.

DiPietro has missed almost the entire season with a knee injury and this was his first victory of the year. He had lost his other two decisions.

Toskala allowed all four goals on 31 shots. He gave up seven goals Tuesday in an 8-2 loss to Dallas.
