SEATTLE, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren says he will not coach anywhere in 2009, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
Rumors this week suggested he would coach another NFL team next season, but Thursday, the newspaper reported he plans to take the 2009 season off and then determine whether he will return to the NFL in 2010.
"You can't stop anyone from saying or writing -- as you well know -- anything they want to write or say," Holmgren told the newspaper while responding to a question about his 2009 availability. "I'm telling you what I'm going to do. I'm going to take some time off and not think about this for a while."
Holmgren coaches his last game with the Seahawks Sunday when they play their season-ending contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
Before the 2008 season, he was 82-62 after taking the reins in Seattle in 1999, but the Seahawks enter their final game with a 4-11 record.
