COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Jonathan Quick's perfect work in the nets Tuesday carried the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Quick needed to make 24 saves to notch his first NHL shutout in just his sixth game in the league and snap a four-game Los Angeles losing streak.
The Kings got the only goal they needed from Raitis Ivanans before 3 minutes had elapsed in the game when he put a rebound past Columbus goalie Steve Mason before he could react. Patrick O'Sullivan added another 9 minutes later and Peter Harrold tacked the third in the third period.
The Kings pestered Mason with 42 shots. It was the second game in a row the Blue Jackets have been shut out and their third straight loss.
