COL FB: Southern Miss. 30, Troy 27 (OT)

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Britt Barefoot kicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime and Southern Miss blocked a potential game-tying kick Sunday to beat Troy 30-27 in the New Orleans Bowl.

Michael McGee blocked a 28-yard attempt by Sam Glusman to complete the Golden Eagles' come-from-behind victory. Southern Miss won their last five games to finish 7-6 and post their 15th consecutive winning season.

Austin Davis was 20-for-34 passing for 276 yards and two touchdowns. Gerald Baptiste and Johnathan Massey each caught a touchdown pass and Damion Fletcher carried the ball 14 times for 78 yards for the Eagles.

Levi Brown was 26-of-43 passing for 255 yards and a touchdown for Troy (8-5). Jerrel Jernigan scored a touchdown on the ground and caught nine passes for 65 yards.
