GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Ilya Bryzgalov recorded his sixth career shutout Saturday night when the Phoenix Coyotes downed Columbus 2-0.
Bryzgalov stopped the 33 shots he faced, including 12 in the third period, and the only goal he would need was scored by Steve Reinprecht midway through the second period.
Mikkel Boedker (unassisted) scored in the third for the Coyotes, who rose to 5
Rookie Steve Mason, who entered play Saturday with a league-leading 1.91 goals-against average, allowed two goals on 24 shots for the Blue Jackets, losers in three of their last four games.
Phoenix went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Columbus finished 0-for-2.
