NHL: Carolina 3, Montreal 2 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Tuomo Ruutu's goal with 3:17 remaining in overtime Sunday gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Ruutu was assisted by Eric Stahl and Joe Corvo.

Stahl had a goal and two assists and Sergei Samsonov posted a goal and assist for the Hurricanes.

Matt D'Agostini and Robert Lang got the Montreal goals. Lang's score, on a power play, tied the contest at 2-2 with 6:52 left in regulation.

Carolina goalie Cam Ward picked up his 11th win of the season with a 26-save performance.

Carey Price had 24 saves for Montreal, which has lost four of its last six games.
