LANDOVER, Md., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Clinton Portis scored the game's only TD and the Washington Redskins used their best defensive effort this season to record a 10-3 win Sunday over Philadelphia.
Portis scored on a one-yard third-quarter run and finished with 70 yards on 22 carries for Washington (8-7). Jason Campbell compiled 172 all-purpose yards (144 passing, 28 rushing).
London Fletcher made a key fumble recovery after Jason Taylor pried the football away from Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb early in the third quarter and the Redskins completed a season-sweep of their NFC East foes.
McNabb completed 26-of-46 passes for 230 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
An injured Bryant Westbrook (ankle) gained 116 from scrimmage (45 rushing, 71 receiving) and David Akers kicked a 22-yard third-quarter field goal for the Eagles (8-6-1), who retained control of their playoff destiny because San Diego beat Tampa Bay 41-24 earlier Sunday.
The Eagles must beat Dallas next Sunday to retain playoff hopes. Washington was eliminated despite the win, when Atlanta clinched a playoff spot with a 24-17 victory over Minnesota Sunday.
