MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Vikings have frozen their 2009 ticket prices because of the nation's current economic climate, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

They joined at least four other NFL franchises with their decision, made Thursday.

For the first time since 1998, ticket prices at the Metrodome will remain the same across the board.

Other NFL teams that have said they will not raise ticket prices in the 2009 season include Jacksonville, New Orleans, San Diego and San Francisco.

"We always spend a lot of time about this time of year considering what we want to do for the following season," Vikings' vice president of sales and marketing and chief marketing officer Steve LaCroix told the newspaper. "We felt this was the right time for a lot of reasons to acknowledge the fans loyalty and passion that they have for us and the current challenges some of our fans are potentially facing economically."

The NFL also has announced that average ticket prices for postseason games will decrease.
