ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- The New York Rangers used a late goal by Nigel Dawes and then an empty-netter by Nikolai Zherdev to secure a 3-1 win over Anaheim Tuesday.

After a scoreless first period, Chris Drury put the Rangers up 1-0 with a wrist shot from near the top of the right circle that beat Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller. Anaheim answered with a goal by Chris Kunitz before the end of the second period but Dawes' unassisted goal with 3:16 left in the third proved to be the winner.

Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves for the Rangers, who have won two straight.

Hiller finished with 29 shots in the losing effort.
