COL BKB: Tennessee 80, Marquette 68

NASHVILLE, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Wayne Chism's career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds Tuesday carried 19th-ranked Tennessee to a 80-68 victory over No. 23 Marquette.

The 7-2 Volunteers got 14 points from Tyler Smith and 10 from Bobby Maze in the SEC/Big East Invitational matchup. Maze also dished out six assists in the win.

The Golden Eagles (8-2) got a game-high 30 points from Wesley. Lazar Hayward added in 14 points and Jerel McNeal had10. Dominic James ended with eight points and a team-high five assists.

Despite the 12-point final margin, Marquette was in it until near the end, trailing by only two points with 2:20 left. But Josh Tabb hit a three-pointer than started a 10-0 game-ending run for the Vols capped by Smith's four free throws.

The two teams were tied at 32 at the half.
