NHL: San Jose 3, Los Angeles 2 (SO)

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Ryane Clowe's shootout goal Monday night gave San Jose a 3-2 win over Los Angeles -- the Sharks' 12th win without a loss in 13 games.

The Sharks (25-3-2) have not lost in regulation since Nov. 9. Their 52 points in the first 30 games of the season are the most ever in the NHL -- besting a record set by the Boston Bruins with 50 points during the first 30 games of the 1929-30 season.

Clowe had a power-play goal in regulation, Patrick Marleau had a shorthanded goal and Brian Boucher stopped 26 shots for San Jose.

Jason LaBarbera made 13 saves in relief of Erik Ersberg, who had 10 stops before being lifted in the second period for LA.

Matt Greene and Teddy Purcell scored for the Kings, who lost for the sixth time in seven games against the Sharks.

Dan Boyle scored in the first round of the shootout for San Jose but Patrick O'Sullivan got it back for the Sharks. After Clowe scored with a backhander in the third round, Boucher denied Purcell's attempt and sealed the victory for San Jose.
