COL BKB: Texas 88, Texas Southern 72

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A.J. Abrams tallied 27 points for No. 5 Texas Tuesday in an 88-72 Longhorns win over Texas Southern.

Dexter Pittman added 19 points and Varez Ward scored 12 in the sixth straight victory for Texas (9-1).

Matthew Miller topped the scoring for Texas Southern (0-9) with 21 points. Ricky Boyles added 14.

The game was close until the Longhorns gradually pulled away in the second half, starting with a seven-point run.
