MEMPHIS, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- O.J. Mayo continued his outstanding rookie season with a 28-point effort Sunday that led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 102-86 victory over Miami.
Memphis won its fourth consecutive game, the team's longest winning streak since they captured their last five outings of the 2005-06 season.
Mayo has been the key factor, having totaled 90 points in his last three games. He has scored in double figures in all 23 games he has played as a pro, the third-longest such streak at the start of a career in NBA history.
He needs one more to tie Bobby Jones for second place and four more to tie record-holder Dan Issel.
The game was tied at intermission, but Memphis outscored Miami by 15 in the third period and coasted from there.
Rudy Gay added 18 for Memphis and Darko Milicic had 13.
Miami was led by Michael Beasley with 20. Beasley had missed the Heat's previous game while suffering from the flu.
