NHL: Columbus 3, N.Y. Islanders 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Steve Mason made 24 saves on 25 shots Saturday, helping the Columbus Blue Jackets skate to a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders.

In his 13th start this season, the only goal Mason surrendered was by Richard Park's fifth (shorthanded) at 19:50 of the second period.

Fredrik Modin (power play), Jason Chimera and Andrew Murray all scored once, with Murray's fourth goal of the season, at 10:47 of the third, giving Columbus its two-goal advantage.

Joey McDonald was beaten three times on 35 shots in the Islanders' sixth straight road loss.

On the power play, the Islanders went 1-for-2 and the Blue Jackets were scoreless on three man-advantage opportunities.
