
BOSTON, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist Saturday to extend his points streak to 15 straight games and lead the Boston Bruins' 4-2 win over Atlanta.
Kessel scored his 19th goal of the season (power play) at 6:00 of the first period. With an assist on Dennis Wideman's power-play goal at 18:16 of the third, Kessel raised his point total this season to 49 (19 goals, 30 assists).
During his streak, Kessel has 12 goals and 10 assists.
Michael Ryder scored twice and David Krejci had two assists, while goalie Manny Fernandez surrendered two goals on 22 shots for the Northeast Division-leading Bruins, whose record rose to 16-2-1 since the start of November.
Atlanta got goals from Nathan Oystrick in the first and Marty Reasoner in the third. Johan Hedberg was beaten four times on 29 shots in the Thrashers' eighth loss in their last nine games.
On the power play, Boston went 2-for-5 while the Thrashers went 0-for-2.
