PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Dionte Christmas' game-high 35 points Saturday led Temple's surprisingly easy 88-72 rout of eighth-ranked Tennessee.
His three-pointer, jump shot and slam dunk gave Temple a 41-31 advantage with 17:13 left in the second stanza following a 34-25 lead at the break.
The Volunteers climbed within 52-48 with 11:16 remaining, but another Christmas three-pointer made it 61-50 with 10:02 left and Temple was home free.
Sergio Olmos scored 19 with seven rebounds, three assists and five blocked shots.
Ryan Brooks had 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while all eight dressed players scored for the Owls (5-3), who have won two in a row.
They shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the field in the second half and finished 55.4 percent (31-of-56) for the game.
Tyler Smith led Tennessee with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Bobby Maze scored 15 with three assists, while Wayne Chism added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Volunteers (6-2), who have dropped two of three.
