NHL: Toronto 2, Buffalo 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Ian White's fifth goal this season led the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 victory Friday night against Buffalo.

White broke a 1-1 tie at 12:04 of the third period.

Jeremy Williams scored at 17:39 of the second to create the tie and Vesa Toskala made 24 saves on 25 shots in the Maple Leafs' second straight victory following a three-game losing streak.

Overall, they had lost eight of their previous 11 games.

Buffalo's only goal came from Toni Lydman at 6:02 of the first period.

Ryan Miller yielded two goals on 33 shots for the Sabres, who had won three of their previous four home contests.

On the power play, both clubs went 0-for-4.
