GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Zbynek Michalek and Olli Jokinen scored the game's first two goals in the final 27 seconds of the second period Thursday, boosting Phoenix past Minnesota 3-1.

Phoenix defeated the Wild for the first time in 10 tries and did so with a flurry that came just before the end of the second stanza. Minnesota lost its third in a row, its longest skid of the season.

Michalek broke a scoreless tie by unleashing a rising shot from above the right faceoff circle with 27 seconds remaining in the second.

Jokinen's goal, coming with 2 seconds to go, came after he received a perfect pass from Peter Mueller.

Joakim Lindstrom gave the Coyotes a 3-0 lead in the third period before Antti Miettinen scored for Minnesota to end the shutout bid of Ilya Bryzgalov.

Minnesota has scored just twice during its three-game losing streak. Phoenix has won two straight.
