COL BKB: Miami 76, Fla. International 50

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- James Dews scored 15 points Friday and No. 25 Miami used a big first-half run to easily subdue Florida International 76-50.

The Hurricanes improved to 6-2, their losses having come against top-10 teams Connecticut and Ohio State.

Miami put together a 17-2 outburst in the opening period en route to a 42-26 advantage at halftime and coasted during the final 20 minutes.

Jack McClinton added 12 points and Eddie Rios, who had two three-pointers during the big run in the first half, had 10.

Florida International (4-6) was led by Michael Dominguez with 15.
