Ex-Giant Ingram target of arrest warrant

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Former New York Giants wide receiver Mark Ingram is to be arrested by authorities after failing to turn himself over to begin a prison term, a judge says.

U.S. District Court Judge Denis Hurley had an arrest warrant issued for Ingram after the former Super Bowl hero failed to begin a 7 1/2-year prison sentence in Kentucky last week, the New York Daily News said Wednesday.

The 43-year-old former football star's absence came after he asked Hurley to grant him a temporary stay of his sentence so he could watch his son, Mark, play in an Alabama-Florida football game last Saturday.

The Daily News said that request was denied, creating suspicion that Ingram violated his prison arrival order to attend the college football game.

The former Michigan State standout, who was a key part of the Giants' Super Bowl XXV win, received the prison sentence as part of a 2005 conviction on charges of money laundering and cashing a stolen check.
