NEW YORK, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen was fined $10,000 by the NFL for using the football as a prop last Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
Following his third sack of Bears quarterback Kyle Orton, Allen grabbed the football and appeared to perform CPR. League spokesman Randall Liu defined that action in an e-mail Friday as unsportsmanlike conduct.
The fine means Allen has been penalized $90,000 this season for various incidents.
Earlier, he was fined $75,000 for three separate hits on quarterbacks and $5,000 for jumping on a pile.
Allen was not available for comment.
Also fined $10,000 Friday was Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers for a late hit on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in last Sunday's 35-31 Panthers' victory.
On the play in question, Rodgers had gone out of bounds before Peppers' hit.
