MEMPHIS, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A 25-point effort from Rudy Gay Friday pushed the Memphis Grizzlies to their first victory in eight games -- a 93-81 decision over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rookie O.J. Mayo chipped in 20 points, allowing him to tie the NBA record for most consecutive games with double figure scoring at the start of a career. He has reached at least 10 points in his first 19 games, equaling the league mark set by Lamar Odom with the Clippers in 1999-00.

Memphis had not won since defeating San Antonio Nov. 18. It was only the second home win for the Grizzlies in their last 13 tries.

Baron Davis had 23 points for the Clippers, losers of seven out of eight.

Memphis built a 17-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.
