CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Stephen Curry scored 44 points Saturday, allowing No. 24 Davidson to eke out a 72-67 win over North Carolina State.

The sharpshooting guard scored 25 second-half points, including a three-pointer that gave Davidson a 69-68 lead with 1:21 remaining and two free throws for a 71-69 lead 4 seconds from the end.

Andrew Lovedale scored 12 with nine rebounds and was the only other player in double figures for the Wildcats (6-1), who rallied from a 41-37 halftime deficit.

Brandon Costner led NCSU with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Ben McCauley scored 16 with 10 rebounds, while seven others scored for the Wolfpack (4-1), who had won their three of their first four games by double-digit margins.

The contest, played at Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena, was attended by Cleveland Cavaliers' superstar LeBron James, a big Curry supporter.
