LAWRENCE, Kan., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The Kansas Jayhawks announced Friday the school has accepted an invitation to play in the Insight Bowl.
It will be the second consecutive bowl appearance for Kansas, which finished the regular season with a 7-5 record. The Jayhawks upset Missouri last Saturday 40-37.
The bowl game will be played New Year's Eve in Tempe, Ariz. The Jayhawks' opponent has yet to be named.
"Our players are really excited," Coach Mark Mangino said. "They deserve this opportunity for post-season play. They've earned it.
"We're going to have fun, but our players will be the first to tell you the most fun of going to a bowl game is winning it. That's what the trip is all about."
Kansas took an 11-0 record into its closing game with Missouri last year but a loss to the Tigers ended the Jayhawks' hopes of playing for the national championship. They went on to defeat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
