NASHVILLE, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A goal by David Legwand with less than a second left in the first period was the last score of the game Thursday and gave Nashville a 3-2 win over Colorado.

Legwand capped a wild opening period by taking a no-look pass from Dan Hamhuis and beating Peter Budaj with a wrist shot. The clock showed .03 of a second to play in the period.

Budaj and Pekka Rinne were perfect the rest of the way. Rinne improved to 5

0 in seven starts and allowed the Predators to end a three-game home losing streak.

Shea Weber and Vernon Fiddler also scored for Nashville.

Colorado twice overcame a one-goal deficit, once with a two-man advantage and the other time with a shorthanded goal.

The Avalanche had won their two previous games.
