Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
NEW YORK, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Markus Naslund scored the game-winner in a shootout Wednesday, lifting the New York Rangers to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Rangers won the shootout 3-1, with their other goals scored by Nikolai Zherdev and Fredrik Sjostrom.
Pittsburgh's Kris Letang scored once in the shootout.
In regulation, New York got goals from Nikolai Zherdev in the second period and Petr Prucha in the third, with Prucha's first goal this season creating a 2-2 tie at 14:03 of the third.
The Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29-of-31 shots and cooled off Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, who had scored six goals in his last three games.
Pittsburgh's goals were scored by Mark Eaton in the first period and Jordan Staal in the second.
Dany Sabourin made 25 saves on 27 shots for the Penguins, who have split their last four games.
On the power play, both clubs went 0-for-3.
