ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Undefeated North Carolina was ranked the No. 1 college men's basketball team in the nation in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll released Monday.
The 7-0 Tar Heels received all 31 first-place votes, easily grabbing the top spot over No. 2 Connecticut (6-0). Pittsburgh (7-0) was No. 3 and Duke (7-0) was No. 4, while Gonzaga (5-0) took over No. 5.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Oklahoma (6-0), Notre Dame (5-10), Texas (5-1), UCLA (4-1) and Purdue (5-1).
The next tier of teams were Louisville (2-1), Michigan State (4-1), Tennessee (5-1), Xavier (6-0), Memphis (4-1), Villanova (6-0), Wake Forest (6-0), Georgetown (4-1), Arizona State (5-1) and Syracuse (6-0).
Filling in the 21-25 spots are Florida (5-1), tie Miami (Fla.) (4-1), tie Wisconsin (5-1), Davidson (5-1) and Kansas (4-1).
Marquette (5-1) was the only team to drop out, falling from No. 15.
