Cabrera offered arbitration

Chicago White Sox's Orlando Cabrera

CHICAGO, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Free agent Orlando Cabrera has been offered salary arbitration by the Chicago White Sox.

Cabrera has a career batting average of .274 in 12 years. Cabrera hit 105 home runs and 684 RBI in his career while playing for the Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, LA Angels and White Sox.

Cabrera belted eight home runs and drove in 57 RBI, batting .281 in 161 games for the White Sox this year, after being acquired from the LA Angels in November 2007.

A Type A free agent, Cabrera has until Dec. 7 to accept the offer. If he doesn't the White Sox will receive two draft picks as compensation.
