
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Austin Freeman's 18 points led four players in double figures Sunday when No. 16 Georgetown ripped Maryland 75-48 for third place at the Old Spice Classic.
The tournament, played in Orlando, Fla., marked just the third time since 1980 the Washington-area schools played on the hardwoods.
GU established its dominance by sinking 10 of its first 14 shots on the way to a 38-20 halftime advantage.
Its largest lead was 73-38 with 7:18 left.
DaJuan Summers scored 14 points, Greg Monroe 12, Jessie Sapp 10 and Freeman added six rebounds for the Hoyas (4-1), who recovered from a 90-78 loss to 12th-ranked Tennessee Friday.
Maryland was led by 11 points for both Eric Hayes and Adrian Bowie.
High-scoring shooting guard Greivis Vazquez was held to two points for the Terps (4-2), who have lost two in a row after a surprising 80-62 rout of sixth-ranked Michigan State Thursday.
