Sim, Allenby tied at Australian Masters

MELBOURNE, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Robert Allenby shot 5-under-par 67 Saturday to join Scotland's Michael Sim at the top through 54 holes at the Australian Masters golf tournament in Melbourne.

Allenby, a four-time winner on the European Tour, is looking to win his first title on any major tour since winning this event in 2003 before it was co-sponsored by the European Tour.

"The most important thing was just to put myself in position," the Australian said. "I did a lot of good things out there today."

Sim, 24, a former World No. 1 amateur, began the third round in a tie for second and shot 4-under 68.

Both golfers have totals of 10-under 206 after they played the round together.

Australia's Ashley Hall (68) is alone in third place at 8-under 208, with three others sharing fourth place at 7-under 209.

Overnight leader Tim Clark (76) was one of seven players who had at least a piece of the lead Saturday.
