Tim Clark leads Australian Masters

MELBOURNE, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- A 2-under-par 70 Friday helped South Africa's Tim Clark grab the 36-hole lead at the European Tour's Australian Masters golf tournament in Melbourne.

Clark's two-round 7-under 137 is one-stroke better than fellow Aussies Michael Sim (66) and Anthony Summers (68) of New South Wales, who share second place at 6-under 138.

"I had a lot more birdie chances," said Clark, one of the co-leaders when first-round play was suspended because of darkness during Thursday's first round.

Clark, a three-time winner on the European Tour, is the third-highest-ranked player in the field behind Australians Robert Allenby and Stuart Appleby.

Allenby (66), Jamie Donaldson (67), Dave Horsey (68), Rod Pampling (68), Aaron Townsend (64), Steve Webster (68) and Michael Wright (70) are tied for fourth place at 5-under 139.

Round one was completed Friday after a lightning storm halted play for three hours Thursday.

Conditions were much easier Friday and the entire field completed play on time.
