
NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Sam Young scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds Friday, leading No. 4 Pittsburgh to an 80-67 win over Texas Tech.
The victory came in the semifinals of the Legends Classic and set up a Pittsburgh meeting with Washington State in Saturday's title game. The Cougars defeated Mississippi State in the other semifinal 63-52.
Pittsburgh improved to 6-0, getting 15 points and 11 rebounds from DeJuan Blair and 10 points from Gilbert Brown.
The Panthers shot 51 percent from the field in the second half to hang on after owning a 10-point lead at intermission.
Texas Tech (5-1) was paced by Trevor Cook with 24 points.
The Red Raiders had a three-point lead with 4:34 left in the first half, but Pittsburgh scored the final 13 points of the period.
