ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Jeff Pendergraph's 23 points and 10 rebounds Thursday led No. 14 Arizona State to an 84-56 win over Charlotte in the first round of the 76 Classic at Anaheim.
The first half was fairly competitive with ASU holding a 35-23 lead at the break. In the second 20-minute stanza, however, ASU outscored Charlotte 49-33.
James Harden scored 15 with six rebounds.
Ty Abbott had 14 points, four assists and three rebounds, while Jarren Shipp added 10 points for the unbeaten Sun Devils (4-0).
Harden entered the contest with a 25 point-per-game scoring average.
Rashad Coleman scored 14 points but was the only player in double figures for the 49ers (1-4), who made 83.6 percent (61-of-73) of their free throws in the first three games, but Thursday went 9-of-13 and committed 21 turnovers to 20 by the Sun Devils.
