MAUI, Hawaii, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Damion James scored 21 points Wednesday, carrying seventh-ranked Texas to a 70-57 win over Oregon for third place at the Maui (Hawaii) Invitational.
Oregon jumped out to a 7-2 lead early, but Texas followed with a 21-1 spurt and led 31-20 at the break.
Texas did not give up a field goal in nearly 13 minutes before the first half ended and Oregon barely threatened in the second half.
James shot 9-of-11 from the field and added 12 rebounds.
Justin Mason scored 18 with five rebounds and five assists, and Gary Johnson added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Longhorns (4-1), who beat Saint Joseph's to start the tournament before falling to eighth-ranked Notre Dame 81-80 in the semifinals Tuesday.
Oregon was led by Joevan Catron's 13 points and eight rebounds.
Tajuan Porter scored 11 with six rebounds, while Garrett Sim added 11 points and four assists for the Ducks (3-3).
