IRVING, Texas, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Alabama held the top spot in this week's Bowl Championship Series poll but Texas Tech's loss Saturday opened the No. 2 spot for Texas and Oklahoma took No. 3.

The Crimson Tide (.9872) had a bye week but still retained the top BCS ranking and is the only major conference team without a loss. Texas (.9209) moved up to No. 2, replaced at No. 3 by Oklahoma (.9125) -- which leapfrogged two spots after its stunning win over Texas Tech (.7789).

Tech fell to seventh in the BCS rankings and has little hope for a shot at the national title following the loss.

Florida (.8755) held the No. 4 spot following a blowout against The Citadel and Southern California (.7974) -- which did not play this week -- moved up to fifth. Utah (.7858) replaced USC at No. 6.

Penn State (.7520) held its No. 8 ranking following a 49-18 win over Michigan State that sewed up a share of the Big Ten title and a possible Rose Bowl berth. Boise State (.6581) is still No. 9 and Ohio State (.6210) remained in the 10th spot.
